The legislative break continues this week as leadership in the Georgia General Assembly works on the FY 10 amended and FY 11 budgets.  With no agreement on revenues on the horizon, massive government layouts, deep cuts to education and other porgrams, and even a sliding fee scale for pre-K have been discussed.

As I was driving home today, I heard this piece on NPR describing  concerns around the country about the potential effect of cuts to state budgets on children.

As budget strategies become more clear in the coming weeks, we’ll need you to raise your voices louder than ever to support child welfare, education, early childhood program, and health care programs for children.  Georgia must take a balanced approach to budgeting that helps us make strategic investments for our future and adequately fund current needs.
